I have voted Misumaru Tamatsukuri 玉造魅須丸 for one of seven characters in the popularity poll.
This is an iconic battle revealing the secret and the destiny of Reimu as a shrine maiden of Hakueri who is also a successor of the Yin-Yang sphere user.
I really like the fact that Touhou Project has finally introduced "Misumaru-notama (Misumaru Sphere" as a character! There is my favourite sacred pre-historical Shintoist mantra called Katakamuna-Utahi, which has existed since the time before Yamato dynasty reigned and the authority has actually concealed this document. This mantra is believed to have a strong power enough to connect us to an extra terrestrial dimension. Izanagi object, the power source of these spheres is indeed equivalent to this power! The author ZUN must be really well-informed with the ancient Shintoism which I am really keen too. Misumaru is attractive when she gently persuades Reimu with the real power and their background. In the No.7 line of Katakamuna mantra is "Magatama no Amanominakanushi, Takamimusubi, Kamumimusubi, Misumaru no tama". This is literally translated the sphere of Misumaru is a comma-shaped jewel of Amanominakanushi (the God of the universe) and Takamimusubi and Kamumimusubi (The Ultra Dimensional Connections). Touhou 18 東方虹龍洞 will be the most remarkable title connecting the old series and the new series as well as the turning point of the entire Touhou series, and this is why I have voted this title in the popularity poll.
