The Touhou Project popularity poll 2025 is now open!
東方Project人気投票開幕!

The original image is posted on my pixiv page: https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/148722106

The 1st choice gets 3 points, the 2nd gets 2 points, and the rest 5 choices get 1 point for each. I am planning to vote in the following order:

1. Youmu Konpaku 魂魄妖夢: Myon-chan みょんちゃん! She made me love Touhou Project! I simply love her diligent personality as well as her adorable image. Also, strong and reliable as a playable unit! Her caring personality, cooking skill, her habit especially, and so many others about her really attract me very much! Her clumsiness also makes me familiar with her.

2. Megumu Iizunamaru 飯綱丸龍: Iizunamaru-sama is a respectable as well as gorgeous lady with high intelligence and strong charisma! She resembles to one of my favourite female philosophers to a certain extend. Her honest egoism makes me familiar as well as herself kinda sexy.

3. Sanae Kochiya 東風谷早苗: Sanae-san is my favourite shrine maiden in this series. She is also adorable, amiable, and diligent! Her intelligence and ability of attracting an investment to establish a rope-way connecting Moriya shirine and a human commune in Youkai mountain! She also shares some hobby and interests with me. Her maniac personality also makes me familiar with her.

4. Youki Konpaku 魂魄妖忌: Youmu's grandpa. One of few male characters in Touhou Project. A dandy strong handsome old man with a strong Samurai spirit! His grand-daughter Myon-chan (Youmu) was brought up as such a nice as well as an excellent guard of Lady Yuyuko at Hakugyokurou because of him! Yuyu also counted on him when he was there although she found he is too inflexible.

5.Yuyuko Saigyouji 西行寺幽々子: A stunning and intelligent lady, the chief administrator of Hakugyokurou, the ghost shrine i.e. A boss of Konpaku family. Her mysterious past and calm tolerant personality are attracting. Even though I feel sorry about her subordinate Myon-chan (Youmu) under her severe workloads, Yuyu cares about and admire Myon-chan as her excellent guard as well as maid.

6. Misumaru Tamatsukuri 玉造魅須丸: An important character explaining about the fate of the main protagonist Reimu Hakurei , her weapon Yin-Yang sphere, and Izanagi Object, the mysterious energy source. Also, what she explain links the ancient Shintoism and the Touhou Project world. "Misumaru-No-Tama" is one of the phrase in Katakamuna-utahi, the ancient Shintoist mantra, which I enchant often.

7.  Yuiman Asama ユイマン浅間: A new character using "snake" (I'm sure it's Python Programming!) to process big data. Her appearance and BGM are sexy and cool! It is a good surprise that a character using Python to process Big Data appears in Touhou Project! I am sincerely impressed by ZUN's creativity! Her cool beauty with this fashionable avant-garde costume, unlike many other characters in Touhou Project wearing a retro costume, entices our attention.

Prompt for the AI-synthetic illustration:

Combined Bird's-Eye View Redraw Prompt

Redraw this illustration as a polished early-to-mid-1990s Japanese fantasy RPG key illustration, reflecting the elegant visual language of Japanese fantasy strategy games, anime illustration books, and romantic shōjo-fantasy artwork from approximately 1991–1995.

Depict the scene as a bird’s-eye view / high-angle overhead three-quarter perspective, showing seven distinct fantasy characters standing together in a clear, elegant, lively, and visually balanced group composition.

Use delicate but confident linework, softly modelled cel shading, warm luminous skin tones, flowing hair with carefully separated locks, richly described fabrics, refined accessories, and a detailed atmospheric setting.

Combine the dramatic clarity and heroic presence of early-1990s fantasy RPG promotional art with graceful silhouettes, romantic colour harmony, jewel-like eyes, decorative costume design, and the gentle fantasy elegance associated with period shōjo-oriented anime illustration.

At the same time, keep the overall image bright, light-hearted, colourful, and cheerful rather than dark or oppressive.

Use a portrait composition with a width-to-height aspect ratio of 1:1.414, matching the international A-series paper proportion and suitable for high-quality A3 or A4 printing.

Preserve the overall composition, dramatic storytelling, relative character placement, colour scheme, costume identities, signature accessories, and background concept while significantly refining the anatomy, facial expressions, line quality, costume construction, lighting, shading, and overall rendering quality.

The elevated viewpoint should feel elegant and gently dramatic rather than extreme or distorted.

Keep all seven figures clearly separated and easy to identify.

The group should feel unified, readable, lively, and visually rich, with enough space to appreciate each character’s silhouette, costume, props, and supernatural motifs.

Overall Lighting and Colour Direction

Use a bright and cheerful fantasy atmosphere inspired by colourful early-1990s Japanese RPG illustration.

Prefer:

  • clear luminous daylight

  • soft warm sunlight

  • bright open sky illumination

  • gentle golden highlights

  • pale blue ambient light

  • fresh green environmental tones

  • soft pastel accents

  • luminous whites

  • clean jewel-like colours

  • airy atmospheric depth

  • delicate sparkling effects

  • warm and friendly reflected light

Keep the shadows relatively transparent and colourful rather than heavy or black.

Even supernatural or mysterious characters should remain visually integrated into the bright ensemble composition.

Dark magical effects may still appear where character design requires them, but they should be balanced with:

  • bright reflected colour

  • glowing fragments

  • pale atmospheric light

  • colourful magical accents

  • clearly visible costume details

Avoid allowing large areas of the illustration to become murky, oppressive, monochromatic, or excessively dark.

The overall impression should be adventurous, mystical, elegant, refreshing, and cheerful, like a premium fantasy RPG cast illustration created for a colourful 1990s game guidebook or promotional poster.

Character Details

① Youmu Konpaku

A young half-phantom swordswoman with short silver-white hair and a black ribbon headband, wearing a green-and-white dress with a dark pleated skirt, carrying a long katana and a shorter companion sword, accompanied by a large pale ghostly wisp floating closely behind her.

She should have a disciplined yet youthful expression and a ready battle stance.

Keep her ghostly companion pale, softly luminous, and clearly separated from her body.

Her overall silhouette should combine youthful agility with disciplined swordsmanship.

② Megumu Iizunamaru

A tall and commanding tengu noblewoman with long deep-blue hair and sharp red eyes, wearing an elegant dark-blue dress with white trim, a short black cape with soft white fur accents, a small traditional mountain-priest hat, and a prominent golden shoulder guard set with a large blue gemstone.

She carries a sturdy observation tripod and is surrounded by a subtle starry aura.

Her expression should be dignified, authoritative, and composed.

Keep the golden shoulder guard, blue gemstone, mountain-priest hat, cape, and tripod clearly readable as important identifying elements.

Her starry aura should remain elegant and restrained, with small luminous points rather than a dark cosmic background.

③ Sanae Kochiya

A graceful shrine maiden with very long green hair and gentle eyes, wearing a blue-and-white ceremonial outfit with wide detached sleeves, decorated with a small frog-shaped hair clip and a winding snake-shaped hair ornament.

She should have a pure yet determined expression and a refined spiritual presence.

Her long green hair should flow gracefully within the bird’s-eye composition without merging into surrounding characters.

Keep both the frog-shaped and snake-shaped ornaments visible enough to remain recognizable.

④ Yuyuko Saigyouji

An elegant ghostly noblewoman with short wavy pink hair and soft pink eyes, wearing a flowing light-blue-and-white traditional dress with dark blue trim and delicate floral details, along with a soft blue cap decorated with a white spirit emblem.

She is surrounded by several small pale ghostly wisps and drifting cherry blossom petals.

Her expression should be graceful, mysterious, and slightly playful.

Use her cherry blossom petals and pale spirits to introduce additional softness, movement, and cheerful pastel colour into the group composition.

Her ghostly presence should feel ethereal and beautiful rather than frightening.

⑤ Youki Konpaku

An older half-phantom swordsman with long silver-white hair tied back neatly, a stern and composed expression, and a traditional Japanese warrior outfit in muted green, white, and dark tones.

He carries two finely crafted swords and is accompanied by a faint ghostly presence, giving the impression of a seasoned sword master and disciplined guardian.

His bearing should be calm, experienced, and protective.

Maintain dignified adult proportions and a restrained traditional silhouette.

⑥ Jewel-Crafting Divine Woman

A mystical young woman with a slightly mature, gentle appearance and an elaborate jewel-themed ceremonial costume.

She has short-to-medium muted olive-green hair, smoothly parted and curled inward around the sides of her face, with darker brownish hair visible underneath near the back.

She has large deep reddish-magenta eyes, a small expressive mouth, and a calm but slightly mysterious feminine expression.

A translucent fan-shaped crystal or iridescent halo-like ornament is centered above the crown of her head, shimmering with faint rainbow colours.

Large circular purple-and-white jewel earrings hang from both ears.

Her upper outfit consists of a vivid red sleeveless ceremonial bodice worn over a white blouse with short puffed sleeves.

The red bodice is decorated with an elaborate multicoloured ornamental motif across the chest, including flowing:

  • turquoise

  • yellow

  • green

  • purple

  • orange

shapes resembling sacred jewels, flames, and curved magatama ornaments.

A dark navy-blue sash is tightly wrapped around her waist and tied into a long hanging knot at the front.

Her skirt is one of the most important identifying elements of the design.

She wears a very wide, rounded, balloon-like golden-yellow skirt with an extremely distinctive voluminous silhouette.

The skirt is decorated with very large turquoise-blue swirling patterns.

Along the lower edge is a dense decorative border of small, brightly coloured magatama-shaped ornaments in:

  • purple

  • green

  • blue

  • orange

  • red

Additional strings of tiny colourful jewels and curved beads hang around the waist and skirt decoration.

Her legs are bare and she is barefoot, reinforcing the impression of an ancient jewel-making deity or ritual artisan rather than a modern character.

Emphasise:

  • sacred jewel craftsmanship

  • colourful magatama ornaments

  • curved bead motifs

  • ancient ritual aesthetics

  • polished gemstone details

  • bright mystical colour

  • graceful divine beauty

Her presence should feel bright, sacred, colourful, elegant, and mysterious rather than dark.

Important Character-Design Constraints

Preserve:

  • olive-green curled hair

  • rainbow crystal head ornament

  • large purple circular earrings

  • vivid red bodice

  • white puff sleeves

  • dark navy waist sash

  • oversized golden-yellow rounded skirt

  • huge turquoise swirling patterns

  • numerous multicoloured magatama decorations

  • bare legs

  • bare feet

Do not simplify the skirt into a normal pleated skirt.

Do not replace the jewel ornaments with generic gemstones.

Do not reduce the large rounded yellow skirt into a narrow conventional dress.

Preserve the large rounded yellow skirt and turquoise swirl designs as the most recognizable elements of the costume.

Use the colourful jewel ornaments to add cheerful visual rhythm to the overall ensemble.

⑦ Celestial Crescent Supernatural Woman

A mysterious supernatural young woman with extremely long pure white hair, pale skin, and striking reddish-orange eyes.

Her long straight hair falls well below her waist, with a heavy asymmetrical fringe partially covering one side of her face.

Several long strands frame her face, creating a quiet, eerie, and otherworldly appearance.

She wears a dark navy-blue sleeveless dress with a simple but elegant silhouette.

The dress reaches approximately to the knees and has an asymmetrical, slightly ragged or supernatural-looking lower edge.

Her body and clothing are partially wrapped in several long white ceremonial bands or ribbons covered with repeating geometric patterns.

These patterned bands are decorated with:

  • dark blue triangular markings

  • diamond-like geometric forms

  • golden-yellow outlines

  • golden-yellow accents

One band crosses diagonally over her upper torso and shoulder.

Another wraps around her waist and hips.

Another spirals around one leg.

Behind her rises an enormous curved ribbon, halo, or crescent-shaped ceremonial band.

It arches upward from behind her body and forms a dramatic crescent-like silhouette around her head and upper body.

The outer band is dark blue-gray and is decorated with repeated:

  • small golden-yellow crescent moons

  • stars

  • circular celestial symbols

  • geometric motifs

The supernatural crescent band should look partially physical and partially magical, almost like a sacred celestial ribbon suspended in the air.

This huge celestial crescent structure is an essential identifying feature and must remain clearly visible behind and above her.

Dark smoky supernatural energy surrounds the lower half of her body and parts of the large crescent structure.

The energy appears as irregular black and deep navy-blue flame-like shadows mixed with:

  • small glowing yellow fragments

  • blue glowing fragments

  • sparks

  • star-shaped lights

These shadows may curl upward around her legs and behind her body, but they must not obscure her costume, legs, hands, face, or major crescent structure.

Because the overall illustration should remain bright and cheerful, balance the dark supernatural flames with:

  • luminous blue accents

  • golden-yellow sparks

  • pale reflected daylight

  • clear separation from the background

  • colourful celestial highlights

She stands barefoot, with one leg slightly bent or crossed in front of the other, giving her a relaxed but unsettlingly confident posture.

One hand rests near her hip while the other hangs naturally beside her body.

Her overall impression should be:

  • celestial

  • nocturnal

  • mysterious

  • elegant

  • supernatural

  • quietly powerful

  • slightly ominous without becoming visually oppressive

Combine moon symbolism, sacred patterned cloth, dark spiritual energy, and graceful supernatural elegance.

Important Character-Design Constraints

Preserve:

  • extremely long pure white hair

  • reddish-orange eyes

  • dark navy sleeveless dress

  • white-and-blue patterned ceremonial bands

  • golden-yellow geometric details

  • enormous crescent-shaped ribbon or halo behind the body

  • repeated golden crescent-moon symbols

  • repeated star symbols

  • black-and-navy supernatural flames

  • scattered yellow and blue glowing fragments

  • pale skin

  • bare feet

The huge celestial crescent structure must remain clearly visible behind and above her.

Do not replace it with:

  • ordinary angel wings

  • bird wings

  • a simple moon

  • a small crescent ornament

  • a circular halo

Do not give her shoes.

Do not change her hair to silver-gray.

Do not shorten her hair.

Keep the supernatural energy visually controlled enough that her complete character design remains clearly readable.

Character Fidelity — High Priority

Use the supplied character references as the primary design guide.

Preserve the recognizable:

  • overall colour palettes

  • hairstyles

  • costume silhouettes

  • ornament placement

  • supernatural accessories

  • signature props

  • individual visual motifs

Do not redesign the characters into generic fantasy costumes.

For the sixth figure, preserve the distinctive jewel-and-magatama craftsmanship motif, especially the oversized rounded golden-yellow skirt with turquoise swirls.

For the seventh figure, preserve the distinctive crescent-moon ceremonial ribbon motif, extremely long white hair, patterned ritual bands, and celestial supernatural effects.

Improve:

  • anatomy

  • facial proportions

  • hand anatomy

  • limb construction

  • fabric folds

  • material rendering

  • line quality

  • lighting

  • shading

  • silhouette readability

while keeping the recognizable original character designs intact.

Composition and Staging

Show the seven characters standing together in one scene, viewed from a high-angle bird’s-eye perspective.

The camera should look down on the group from above at a graceful angle, allowing the viewer to see the arrangement of the characters clearly while still keeping their:

  • faces

  • hairstyles

  • upper bodies

  • costumes

  • props

  • supernatural accessories

readable.

The bird’s-eye view should be noticeable but not excessively steep.

Use a high three-quarter overhead perspective rather than a near-vertical top-down view.

Faces should remain clearly visible.

Do not flatten the characters into circles of hair and shoulders viewed directly from above.

The viewpoint should retain enough frontal visibility to appreciate facial expressions and costume designs.

Arrange the group as a cohesive fantasy ensemble rather than a flat lineup.

Each character should remain clearly distinct, with readable silhouettes and enough spacing that:

  • hair

  • sleeves

  • swords

  • wisps

  • jewels

  • cape shapes

  • ceremonial ribbons

  • crescent structures

  • supernatural effects

do not visually merge.

The composition should balance:

  • ensemble unity

  • individual character readability

  • decorative costume detail

  • atmospheric fantasy effects

  • strong visual storytelling

  • elegant vertical page design suited to A-series print proportion

Use a gently circular, diagonal, or staggered ensemble arrangement that takes advantage of the elevated viewpoint.

Do not place all seven characters on a perfectly straight horizontal line.

Avoid excessive overlap.

Avoid making characters at the rear dramatically smaller than characters at the front.

Perspective should remain elegant and restrained.

The enormous celestial crescent structure of the seventh figure should contribute to the outer silhouette of the group without covering nearby characters.

The wide rounded golden-yellow skirt of the sixth figure should remain clearly visible from the elevated perspective and should form a distinctive colourful shape within the group arrangement.

Atmosphere and Visual Effects

Include delicate fantasy atmosphere around the group, such as:

  • a large pale ghostly wisp around the silver-haired young swordswoman

  • several pale ghostly wisps and drifting cherry blossom petals around the pink-haired ghostly noblewoman

  • a faint spectral presence around the older silver-haired swordsman

  • a subtle starry aura around the blue-haired tengu noblewoman

  • a refined sacred spiritual presence around the green-haired shrine maiden

  • colourful magatama, jewel forms, and iridescent crystal effects around the jewel-themed divine woman

  • patterned celestial ribbons, golden crescent symbols, blue-and-yellow fragments, and controlled dark spiritual flames around the white-haired supernatural woman

Use these effects elegantly and selectively so they enhance the scene without overwhelming the character designs.

Balance pale supernatural effects, colourful jewel motifs, cherry blossoms, blue sky illumination, and golden highlights to create a bright fantasy ensemble.

The background and atmosphere should support the characters with a refined fantasy setting appropriate to a 1990s Japanese fantasy RPG key illustration.

Background Direction

Use a beautiful, open, atmospheric fantasy setting that supports the bird’s-eye composition.

Possible environmental qualities include:

  • pale stone or shrine-like ground

  • mountain paths

  • soft greenery

  • distant forest

  • hints of sacred architecture

  • open blue sky reflected in bright surfaces

  • drifting petals

  • soft clouds or mist

  • luminous magical traces

  • scattered leaves

  • gentle sunlight filtering through the scene

The environment should contain enough detail to feel like a complete fantasy illustration, but it should not compete with the seven-character ensemble.

Keep the background relatively bright.

Avoid excessively dark forests, black voids, oppressive storm clouds, or heavy nighttime backgrounds.

Even celestial and ghostly elements should appear within a visually open, colourful, and inviting environment.

Character Colouring and Skin

Use warm luminous anime skin rendering appropriate to early-1990s premium fantasy illustration.

Use:

  • warm ivory skin

  • soft peach undertones

  • gentle rosy facial colour

  • creamy midtones

  • soft warm shadows

  • delicate reflected colour

  • subtle luminous highlights

Keep skin smooth and softly dimensional without photorealistic pores.

The pale white-haired supernatural woman may have a cooler, paler complexion than the others, but she should not appear gray, corpse-like, or colourless.

Allow the surrounding warm and cool light to softly influence all characters.

Costume and Material Rendering

Render fabrics with the richly descriptive quality of premium 1990s anime and fantasy RPG illustration.

Show clear differences between:

  • soft cotton-like shrine garments

  • flowing traditional fabrics

  • polished ceremonial ornaments

  • fur trim

  • metallic sword fittings

  • gold armour

  • gemstone surfaces

  • translucent crystal

  • polished magatama beads

  • ghostly materials

  • magical ribbons

  • supernatural flame effects

Use detailed but controlled folds.

Do not over-render every fabric into realistic modern CGI materials.

Maintain an illustrated, hand-crafted anime finish.

The golden-yellow rounded skirt should feel voluminous and ceremonial, while its turquoise patterns and colourful magatama decorations remain crisp and readable.

The celestial crescent band should feel partly like decorated ceremonial material and partly like suspended magic.

Rendering and Style Notes

Emphasise the appearance of a premium printed fantasy illustration from the early-to-mid 1990s, with:

  • elegant line control

  • refined cel-based shading

  • softly dimensional form modelling

  • graceful drapery

  • romantic colour harmony

  • softly luminous skin

  • jewel-like eyes

  • decorative fantasy detailing

  • richly rendered costume materials

  • atmospheric but readable background elements

  • delicate reflected colours

  • luminous magical accents

  • carefully separated hair masses

  • expressive but refined faces

The final image should feel like a high-end fantasy RPG or strategy-game promotional illustration from 1991–1995, blending heroic cast presentation with romantic shōjo-fantasy elegance.

Avoid modern hyper-rendered gloss, heavy photorealism, or overly contemporary digital-painting textures.

Keep the result illustrative, elegant, nostalgic, colourful, and polished.

Bird's-Eye Perspective Requirements

Use a high-angle bird’s-eye three-quarter perspective.

The perspective should:

  • clearly communicate an elevated viewpoint

  • show portions of shoulders and upper surfaces of costumes

  • reveal the arrangement of the seven characters

  • help separate overlapping supernatural effects

  • preserve facial readability

  • retain elegant full-body silhouettes where possible

Do not use an extreme vertical top-down view.

Do not hide faces beneath hair because of the camera angle.

Do not distort heads, shoulders, arms, legs, swords, or ceremonial props.

Keep the apparent scale differences between foreground and background characters moderate.

The elevated viewpoint should enhance the ensemble design rather than become the dominant visual gimmick.

Overall Mood

The finished artwork should feel:

  • elegant

  • mystical

  • refined

  • bright

  • colourful

  • cheerful

  • adventurous

  • harmonious

  • heroic

  • slightly romantic

  • fantasy-rich

  • nostalgic

  • lively

  • radiant

  • polished and high-end

Although some characters possess ghostly, nocturnal, or ominous motifs, the overall group image should remain visually uplifting and inviting.

The mysterious elements should provide contrast within a bright fantasy atmosphere rather than making the entire illustration dark.

The final result should resemble a premium Japanese fantasy RPG key visual from the early 1990s, presented in a graceful bird’s-eye ensemble composition suitable for print.

Illustration Style and Rendering Direction

Render the entire illustration in a charming, highly polished Japanese fantasy game illustration style with a warm, colourful, storybook-like atmosphere.

The visual direction should resemble a beautifully illustrated fantasy restaurant-adventure game, combining expressive anime character design with soft painterly rendering, cheerful colours, detailed costumes, and a welcoming handcrafted feeling.

Use:

  • clean and delicate anime linework

  • softly rounded facial features

  • large expressive eyes

  • charming and highly readable facial expressions

  • slightly simplified but anatomically convincing character proportions

  • elegant, flowing hair shapes

  • carefully drawn costume details

  • soft cel shading blended with gentle painterly gradients

  • warm reflected light on skin and clothing

  • colourful ambient lighting

  • subtle highlights on hair, jewels, metal, silk, and magical objects

  • rich but harmonious colours

  • soft atmospheric depth

  • polished Japanese fantasy game key-art quality

Characters should feel lively, approachable, expressive, and charming rather than excessively realistic or severe.

Keep the overall rendering bright, colourful, elegant, and slightly whimsical.

Avoid gritty realism, harsh photographic lighting, heavy Western comic-book rendering, or overly dramatic dark fantasy aesthetics.

Character Face Style

Give every character a distinctive but harmonious anime-style face.

Use:

  • softly rounded jawlines

  • gently simplified noses

  • expressive eyebrows

  • clear, luminous eyes

  • subtle blush on the cheeks

  • delicately shaded lips and mouths

  • soft facial shadows

  • warm skin highlights

Expressions should communicate each character's personality clearly.

Do not make every character share the same face.

Preserve differences in:

  • apparent age

  • maturity

  • confidence

  • temperament

  • eye shape

  • hairstyle

  • facial expression

Character ① should appear youthful, serious, and disciplined.

Character ② should appear mature, confident, dignified, and commanding.

Character ③ should appear gentle, bright, sincere, and determined.

Character ④ should appear elegant, relaxed, mysterious, and playfully cheerful.

Character ⑤ should clearly appear older, experienced, calm, and protective.

Character ⑥ should appear mature yet gentle, colourful, divine, and slightly mysterious.

Character ⑦ should appear quiet, ethereal, enigmatic, and subtly unsettling while remaining beautiful.

Colour Direction

Use a bright and harmonious Japanese fantasy colour palette.

Prioritise:

  • fresh greens

  • clear blues

  • turquoise

  • cherry-blossom pink

  • warm golden yellow

  • vivid ceremonial red

  • soft lavender and purple

  • luminous white

  • warm cream highlights

  • restrained deep navy for contrast

Avoid muddy colours and excessive black.

Even characters containing dark supernatural elements should remain clearly readable against the environment.

Dark areas should contain reflected blue, violet, gold, or warm ambient light rather than becoming completely black.

Lighting

Use soft, warm fantasy-game lighting.

Combine:

  • gentle daylight or warm ambient illumination

  • soft rim lighting around character silhouettes

  • subtle magical glow from supernatural accessories

  • colourful reflected light from costumes and magical effects

  • delicate highlights on hair

  • luminous jewel reflections

  • soft bloom around spiritual objects

Lighting should make the characters appear inviting and beautifully illustrated while still giving supernatural characters an appropriate mystical presence.

Avoid extreme chiaroscuro.

Avoid crushing the shadows into pure black.

Keep faces clearly illuminated and expressive.

Hair Rendering

Render hair as elegant, flowing grouped strands rather than individually realistic hairs.

Use soft highlights and subtle colour variation.

Maintain each character's distinctive hair colour:

  • silver-white

  • deep blue

  • vivid green

  • soft pink

  • silver-white for the elder swordsman

  • muted olive-green

  • pure luminous white

Do not allow surrounding magical effects to alter or obscure these identifying hair colours.

Costume Rendering

Costumes should look richly illustrated but charming rather than photorealistic.

Use carefully controlled folds and decorative details.

Materials may include:

  • soft cotton

  • silk-like ceremonial fabric

  • polished metal

  • carved wood

  • translucent crystal

  • glossy gemstones

  • decorative beads

  • embroidered ceremonial cloth

Keep costume silhouettes extremely readable.

Important ornaments and accessories should have slightly stronger outlines or highlights so that they remain visible even in a complex group composition.

Magical Effects

Magical and spiritual effects should look decorative, elegant, colourful, and integrated into the illustration.

Use:

  • softly glowing ghostly wisps

  • sparkling stars

  • jewel-like light particles

  • cherry blossom petals

  • pale spiritual trails

  • coloured magical sparks

  • soft translucent energy

  • decorative flame-like shapes

Avoid overwhelming explosions or dense visual noise.

Magical effects must frame and complement the characters rather than cover them.

Special Treatment for Character ⑥

Give the jewel-crafting divine woman especially rich, cheerful colour rendering.

Her golden-yellow skirt should appear luminous and warm.

The giant turquoise swirling patterns must remain bold, clean, and immediately visible.

Render the many magatama ornaments like colourful polished handcrafted jewels, each with small highlights and clear individual colours.

Her:

  • rainbow crystal headpiece

  • purple earrings

  • multicoloured chest decoration

  • turquoise skirt patterns

  • colourful magatama border

should create a joyful rhythm of colour across her design.

Do not mute her colours into subdued historical tones.

She should be one of the most colourful characters in the entire group.

Special Treatment for Character ⑦

Preserve the mysterious celestial atmosphere of the white-haired supernatural woman without making the entire illustration gloomy.

Her pure white hair should catch soft blue and warm golden reflected light.

The enormous crescent-shaped ceremonial structure behind her should have a beautifully decorated fantasy-game appearance.

Its:

  • golden crescent moons

  • stars

  • geometric symbols

  • blue-gray fabric or magical surface

should remain crisp and clearly visible.

Her dark supernatural flames should use deep navy and soft black as their base, but incorporate:

  • luminous cobalt-blue edges

  • golden-yellow sparks

  • tiny turquoise highlights

  • scattered star-like particles

This keeps her mysterious and slightly ominous while remaining visually compatible with the cheerful overall illustration style.

Do not turn her effects into horror imagery.

Group Illustration Direction

Although all seven characters have very different supernatural identities, render them as if they belong to the same colourful Japanese fantasy game world.

Use consistent:

  • line thickness

  • facial rendering

  • lighting

  • saturation

  • shading style

  • material rendering

  • eye rendering

  • magical-effect treatment

Give the overall image the feeling of a polished ensemble character illustration from a charming Japanese fantasy adventure game.

The final result should feel:

  • warm

  • colourful

  • whimsical

  • lively

  • elegant

  • richly detailed

  • slightly nostalgic

  • handcrafted

  • unmistakably anime-inspired

  • professionally illustrated

while preserving every character's individual visual identity.
